Rev. Robert Peter Takacs

Aug 31, 1932 — Nov 1, 2026

Ridgewood, NJ

Rev. Robert P. Takacs passed away on November 1, 2026.

Robert was the beloved husband of the late Vilma Takacs. He is survived by his son, Robert M. Takacs and his wife Janet; his niece, Helena Yuhas; his nephew, Bill Mergo; and his brothers, Alan Takacs and Kenneth Takacs and his wife Jacqueline, as well as many other nephews and cousins.

Robert proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and later worked as a Refrigeration Engineer for Bendix Corporation. He went on to pursue his calling in ministry, earning a three-year certificate from Berean School of the Bible and studying religion at Caldwell College, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree.

Throughout his life, Robert devoted himself to sharing the Word of God and serving those in need. His ministry reached people from all walks of life, including those incarcerated at Rahway State Prison, where he ministered, and those he served as Chaplain at the Passaic County Jail and Passaic County Youth Shelter. He also ministered to residents of Paterson housing projects and local nursing homes, offering encouragement, compassion and spiritual guidance.

Robert served as President and Spiritual Leader of Evangelist Ministries and as Director and Spiritual Leader of Bergen County Hope for Ex-Offenders. He preached in numerous churches before becoming the English-language Pastor of Glory Christian Church, where he faithfully continued preaching until just days before his passing.

His dedication to his faith and community did not go unnoticed. Over the years, Robert received numerous certificates of appreciation recognizing his service, most recently from several Korean organizations honoring his work within their community through Glory Christian Church.

Robert became a published author by sharing his personal journey of faith in his book, You Are Not Alone, published in 2024. In it, he reflected on how he came to know the Lord, from his days in the Marine Corps through his many years of ministry, sharing how his life was shaped by his faith and God's guidance.

Above all, Robert will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his heart for serving others and his lifelong commitment to spreading the Gospel. His legacy of compassion, encouragement and devotion to the Lord will live on through the many lives he touched.
