Pietro “Peter” Lobefaro

Pietro "Peter" Lobefaro, age 66, of North Caldwell passed on June 3, 2025. Peter was born in Milan, Italy and lived in Bloomfield before moving to North Caldwell in 2003. Peter was a Police Sergeant with the Montclair State University Police Department (MSUPD) serving for over 25 years before retiring in 2021. Prior to serving with MSUPD, Peter was a Corrections Officer for the Essex County Sheriff's Office. Peter was a chef-quality cook, owning several pizzeria restaurants including Sonny’s in West Caldwell and Pizza Depot in Bloomfield. Peter was an overall handyman who could repair and fix just about anything for anyone. He and his son built their home from the foundation up. He loved working with computers, cars, woodworking and traveling. 

Peter is survived by his mother, Gina Lobefaro, his daughter Laura Lobefaro, son David Lobefaro, his brother Robert Lobefaro (and fiance Carole Apkarian), his sister Marie Cardella, nieces Rylee and Lia Lobefaro, nephew James Lobefaro, aunt Phyllis Dimichino (and her husband James), cousins Rocco Dimichino and Daniela Riser (and her husband Thomas), and Christine Lobefaro. Peter is predeceased by his father Luigi Lobefaro (2014) and his brother David Lobefaro (1994). 

Visiting hours and funeral services from Kugler Community Home For Funerals 311 Fifth Street Saddle Brook, NJ (973) 478-2500 on Saturday June 7, 2025 from 12 noon to 4pm with chapel prayer services at 3pm. Private cremation to follow.
