PETER LO DICO, age 73, of Saddle Brook passed on June 16, 2026. Peter was the son of the late Angelo and Mary (Marion) Lo Dico and was born in Passaic, NJ and was a lifelong resident of Saddle Brook.
Pete graduated from Paramus Catholic High School and Seton Hall University earning a bachelor's degree in Political Science.
Pete was a well-known and longtime community civic leader and cornerstone of public government and service to the community of Saddle Brook. At the age of 18, Pete was elected as the youngest person to the Saddle Brook Board of Education and later served as one of the youngest persons in the country to be Board President in the early 1970's. Pete was also Administrative Procurement Director at Paramus Catholic High School. After serving with the Saddle Brook Board of Education, Pete was elected to the Saddle Brook Township Council in 1976 and would later be elected as Mayor in 1985. After serving on the Township Council and as Mayor, Pete was then appointed as Saddle Brook Municipal Clerk in 1997, a beloved and passionate role he proudly served in right up to his passing. Pete also had the dual role as Saddle Brook Business Administrator for many years until 2022. Pete also became an active member of the Bergen County Municipal Clerks Association and later became the Association's President in 2013. With a sincere desire to be a dedicated and active part of the Saddle Brook community and service to the residents, Pete was also a member of the Saddle Brook Historical Society and named Township Historian and was Mayor's Alternate of the Saddle Brook Library Board Trustees.
Pete loved hosting his family and friends in his backyard. He enjoyed gardening and relaxing with a cold beer . He never wanted to leave Saddle Brook unless it was a trip to Atlantic City. He was caring, charismatic and had a great sense of humor.
Pete was predeceased by his parents, Angelo & Mary (Marion) Lo Dico and is survived by his loving brother John Lo Dico and sister-in-law Ellen and was a proud uncle of Nicholas Lo Dico and Jennifer Fatovic, and husband Andre, and great-uncle of Milo. Pete also leaves behind countless family and friends including his Saddle Brook family and friends he has selflessly served his entire public life.
Funeral services from Kugler Funeral Home 311 Fifth Street Saddle Brook, NJ. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Friday June 19, 2026 from 3 to 8 pm. Funeral mass to be held on Saturday June 20, 2026 9:30am at St. Philip the Apostle Church 488 Saddle River Road Saddle Brook, NJ. Burial immediat;ly afterwards in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Saddle Brook Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
