Kelley Hughes Hartley went home to be with the Lord on September 24, 2025 at 53 years old. Kelley was deeply loved, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Kelley grew up in Maywood, NJ. She was the youngest of 3 girls, and was the adorable, curly-haired baby of the family. Once she finished high school, she moved to her family’s 100-acre farm in Knox, NY, where she lived for more than 20 years. Kelley attended Hudson Valley Community College. Afterwards, she worked at Hewitt’s Garden Center, and then later at Lowe’s Home Improvement. It was while working at Lowe’s that she met her husband Mark Hartley.
In early 2017, Kelley and Mark moved away from snowy upstate NY to sunny Cape Coral, Fl, where Mark's family also resided. Kelley loved the Florida wildlife, and would send her family videos of the dolphins that swam in the canal behind her home, and the colorful birds and lizards that her cats hunted from the back porch. Burrowing owls were also a favorite and, of course, the manatees.
Kelley loved rooting for the Giants, the Yankees, and her fantasy football team, and always enjoyed talking about sports with her dad. Kelley was also a great cook, and once even successfully barbecued a whole turkey on the grill for Thanksgiving dinner! She adored her cats, and animals in general. She especially loved hummingbirds and sloths. Kelley had a sassy sense of humor that endeared her to all around her. She had a firm faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord & Savior, and never hesitated to say what she believed.
Kelley was predeceased by her mother, Susan Hughes, in 2003. She is survived by her devoted husband Mark, who will always cherish every moment he was given with her. She is also survived by her father, Joseph Hughes, her sisters Wendy Ciandella Guster (John) and Stacey Hughes, 8 nieces and nephews, 7 grand-nieces and nephews, and her cats, Cooper, Oliver, and Dori. Kelley will be forever remembered and forever loved by her entire family.
Private funeral services will be held at the Kugler Funeral Home on Saturday October 4th, followed by burial at the Knox Cemetery in NY.
