Kathleen Johanna Swaney, age 83, of Saddle Brook, NJ, peacefully passed away at her home on September 2, 2024. She was surrounded by the love and warmth of her family, a testament to the deep connections she cherished throughout her life.
Kathleen was the beloved wife of Daniel Swaney, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. Together, they built a life rich in love and family. She was a devoted mother to her children: Daniel and his wife Eileen, John and his wife Patricia, Brian and his wife Christine, Michael and his “queen” Sylvie, Eileen and her husband Thomas, and Kevin and his wife Jennifer. She was also a proud Nana to Joseph, Patrick, Julianne, Caroline, John, Matthew, and Luke, and a loving aunt to Nancy and her husband Robert, and great-niece Dana. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, John and Josephine Cashin; her brother, William Cashin, and his wife Joanne; and her son-in-law, John Neary.
A woman of deep compassion and unwavering dedication, Kathleen enjoyed a distinguished career as Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She was renowned for her outstanding care and devotion to her patients. At the age of 40, she returned to college to earn her nursing degree while managing the responsibilities of being a mother of six. She not only served as class president but also graduated as the Valedictorian, demonstrating her relentless work ethic and profound commitment to her profession. Her professional accomplishments were only part of her story. She was a cherished Nana who took immense joy in her grandchildren, imparting to them her values of faith, love, kindness, and perseverance. Her legacy of compassion and dedication will endure through her family and the countless lives she touched.
Kathleen will be remembered for her unwavering faith, love, and her bright spirit. Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband, children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Kugler Community Home for Funerals, 311 5th Street, Saddle Brook, NJ 07663. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 4-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Philip The Apostle RCC on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., with interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
