Guillermo “Willy” Heredia Sr., a devoted husband, father, and pillar of the Saddle Brook community, passed away on March 17th, 2026 at the age of 83.
Born in Argentina, Guillermo emigrated to the United States with a tireless work ethic and a vision for a better life. Coming from a professional soccer career background, he played for teams in Lanus, Argentina and Gremio in Brazil. He continued his soccer journey to the United States in the mid 60’s playing for local club teams in the NJ area.
After his retirement from soccer, he started working. He dreamed of opening his own businesses and successfully did so. He fulfilled the American Dream and started many successful businesses. He started with a small stationary store and went on to own two Dunkin Donuts franchises in the early 80’s. After selling those businesses, he started several other businesses, then bought a partnership in a local pizzeria in Saddle Brook, NJ. From there, here started a long career in the Saddle Brook community opening several other businesses such as Saddle Brook liquors and Que Pasta. He also opened a bakery and was involved in several business projects.
Willy was a true entrepreneur and lived the American Dream. For nearly 50 years, he dedicated himself to his family, friends, and his community. His contributions to the local area were recognized by the Lions Club, where he was a proud award recipient. Guillermo’s greatest legacy, however, remains in his family. He shared 57 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Laura and is also survived by his children: his sons, Willy Jr. and Gabriel (Jennifer); and his daughter, Marissa (Jose). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Gabriela, Julian, David, Leilani, Mariah, Willy, Leanna and Azul, and a doting great-grandfather to Leo. His siblings are Virginia, Haydee and Juan Manuel.
Guillermo will be remembered for his resilience, his entrepreneurial drive and passion, and his unwavering commitment to those he held dear. He leaves behind a large, loving family and a community that was made better by his presence.
