Evelyn Marx

EVELYN MARX, 83, passed away on December 6th, 2020. To say Evelyn was a strong woman could never do her justice. She survived many tragic challenges and hardships in her life, all of which contributed to her strength. Like any other struggle, she fought valiantly against the brutal opponent of COVID-19, and lost her battle but not without the fight of a lifetime.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 1, 1937. She raised her children in Passaic and Saddle Brook, NJ  before moving to the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, and later returned to live in Nutley, NJ.
Evelyn was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, wife, and friend. She is predeceased by her husband Carl Marx, her sister Mary Moss, and her brother Edward Ludwig. Her legacy is continued through her brothers Charles and Fred, 8 children, 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and her nephew Christopher. Evelyn was the matriarch of her family, whom she led with a bright smile and an infectious laugh. She is survived by her children, Lorraine (Lori) and her spouse Michael, Louie, Jean and her spouse Glenn, Eric and his spouse Marie, Edward (Eddie) and his spouse Lisa, Phillip, Steven, Daniel (Danny) and his spouse Maridalis (Mari), her grandchildren, Michael and his spouse Caroline, Lauren and her spouse John, Glenn, Kristie and her fiance Joseph, Angela, Daniel, Jessica, Carleigh, Nathan, Robert, and Lucas, and great-grandchildren, William, Lucy, and Logan.
All who knew Evelyn would agree that she was always able to find humor and joy in life.  She was a social butterfly who made friends everywhere she went and was the life of every party. Her love of friendly competition was always to be admired and cherished, as she taught those around her how to win and lose with grace, but especially to win. She devoted the later years of her life to her many grandchildren, to whom she instilled the values of family bonds that power through the highs and lows, the meaning of true perseverance, and of course all the tricks of every card game, dominos, BINGO, and more. Now, the love and lessons that she imbued upon all of us will be engraved in our hearts forever.
